Football Season Snacks: Homemade Tortilla Chips 


I like to make my own homemade tortilla chips and keep them in my pantry. This is a great way to whip up a quick snack anytime especially with guacamole and salsa. My husband loves nachos, so I feel a little less guilty making him his favorite football Sunday snack with these baked tortilla chips. You can use these chips to make  tortilla soup using these chips as the base for the soup, which is always a big hit! It is heart healthy to bake your chips instead of fry them, it gives you extra crunch with less calories.

Some options you can use to flavor them are, lime or lemon juice, cayenne pepper, chili powder or chipotle chili powder.



8-10 Corn Tortilla

Extra Virgin Olive Oil  Spray (for coating)

1 Teaspoon of Salt for sprinkling

Cayenne Pepper or Chilli Powder ( seasonings optional. )

Juice of  1 lime ( optional)



  1. Preheat oven 400 F
  2. Coat a 11 x 13  baking sheet with cooking spray
  3. Cut tortilla into quarters.
  4. Spread onto your baking sheet, single layer
  5. Spray top of tortilla with spray
  6. Sprinkle on the salt
  7. Squeeze on lemon juice and favorite seasoning
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.


Making more, wipe down the baking sheet, spray and repeat instructions.
