THINKING OF A COOL ELEGANT DESSERT FOR THE 4TH?

Juicy ripe melons are in season so why not make a cool and refreshing dessert that will please everyone!

I wait all year long for this 2 month window when melons are at their peak flavor! I like to combine watermelon, cantaloupe, and crenshaw to make a sweet and juicy melon salad. It’s easy to do and full of sweet goodness that is good for you. I can eat melons all day long. I serve them for breakfast, snacks, as an appetizer with prosciutto  and desserts with sorbet. Love them with Greek yogurt and a drizzle of honey and granola over the top. I also like to puree it with ice, fresh orange juice and frozen yogurt to make a great fruit smoothie. Kids love it!

INGREDIENTS

3 cups seedless watermelon

1 ripe cantaloupe, cut in half and seeded

1 crenshaw melon, cut in half and seeded

2 cups fresh orange juice

1/2 cup fresh mint leaves chopped coarsely

Your favorite sorbet

Four of my favorite Haagen-Daz sorbet!

Cut up all the melons with a melon baller and place in a glass bowl. Add the orange juice, and mix well. Sprinkle with fresh mint, and mix. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour. Serve over or along side your favorite fruit sorbet. Frozen vanilla yogurt also works well.

How easy is this?
